Emphysematous pyelonephritis secondary to bilateral ovarian vein syndrome

Emphysematous Pyelonephritis Associated With Emphysematous Gastritis and Air in the Portal Vein
Emphysematous gastritis with portal venous air is a rare condition usually caused by gas forming organisms. This may be secondary to local spread of an infection through the mucosa or rarely hematogenous dissemination from a distant focus. We present a young diabetic woman with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus who was admitted with sepsis and severe abdominal symptoms. Investigation revealed emph...

Case report: Herein, we present the case of a 55-year-old female patient with diabetes and EPN caused by Candida albicans. The infection was complicated with endophthalmitis and endocarditis. Bilateral emphysematous pyelonephritis
Emphysematous Pyelonephritis (EPN) is a rare necrotizing infection defined by gas production in the renal system. Bilateral disease has only been reported to occur in 10% of cases.1 This condition is considered a urologic emergency as mortality and morbidity rates are exceedingly high. The most common predisposing factor to developing EPN, is long-term poorly controlled Diabetes Mellitus (DM), ...
Bilateral emphysematous pyelonephritis cured by antibiotics alone: a case and literature review.
Emphysematous pyelonephritis (EPN) is a rare but severe infectious disease. This disease sometimes presents bilaterally, making it difficult to cure. Diabetes mellitus is a common cofactor in this disease. Drainage or nephrectomy, often combined with antibiotics, is ordinarily used for treatment. To our knowledge, only 8 cases of bilateral EPN cured by antibiotics alone have been reported. We r...
